The League of Vermont Writers conference committee welcomes proposals for our July 2010 conference, "Timeless Craft, Timely Skills. On Saturday, July 24, 2010, we will offer mix-and-match strands in literary fiction, genre fiction, non-fiction, writing for children and teens, and the business of writing. On Sunday, July 25, the focus will shift to writing in the electronic age, and will include both marketing on-line and electronic publishing options. Conference attendees will be a mixture of new, experienced, and published writers. Presenters should be published authors, editors, agents, MFA graduates, or other industry professionals. We are looking for a balance of lecture-style and hands-on proposals. We welcome proposals from everyone, although past presentation experience is appreciated.
The Nitty-Gritty:
Dates: Friday afternoon through Sunday early afternoon, July 24-25, 2010.
Location: Grand Summit Hotel and Conference Center at Mt. Snow, West Dover, Vermont
Type of Presentation: 50 minute workshops

- Name, email address, phone number, mailing address, website
- Proposed workshop title
- Description of the workshop in 150 words or less
- Three learning outcomes (See next section for an explanation of "learning outcomes")
- Audience level: beginner, intermediate, experienced, advanced
- Presentation category (you may choose two or more if applicable): literary fiction, genre fiction, non-fiction, writing for children and teens, the business of writing, electronic publishing, marketing
- Presenter bio in 60 words or less (one for each presenter)
- Presenter experience with topic in 100 words or less (one for each presenter)
- Preferred set-up for the presentation: classroom, theater, rounds, flexible
- A/V needs: List any audiovisual equipment that will be required.
- Special needs: List any accommodations any presenter may need in order to access the conference.
- A full bio may be attached, but is not required.
We Are Looking For Presentations That:
- Relate to the conference theme
- Last a full 50 minutes. Please allow time for questions from participants and for any required audiovisual set up when you are planning
- Are leveled. Please indicate whether your presentation is appropriate for new or experienced writers.
- Have clear learning outcomes. This could mean a specific area of craft, a marketing technique, or a legal matter. Let "I want participants to come away having learned these three things" guide your presentation planning.
- Provide participants with information they can use when they return to their own work.
- Draw on a range of examples rather than solely from your own experience or body of work.

The League of Vermont Writers' Conference, "Timeless Craft, Timely Skills," will be held July 23-25, 2010 at the Grand Summit Hotel and Conference Center at Mt. Snow, West Dover, Vermont. Surrounded by the inspirational beauty of the Green Mountains, participants will attend workshops on craft and on skills for the electronic age, have opportunities to pitch their work to agents, and learn the latest from editors and publishers.
